Raising a Fund without a Placement Agent
Beverly Berman and Fred Malloy will discuss the benefits and challenges of raising a fund without a placement agent, issues to consider when choosing a placement agent, and key issues LPs are concerned about in the current fundraising environment.
As a Partner at Advent International, Beverly was involved in marketing, fundraising and LP services for all of Advent's global buyout products. Advent is a global private equity firm with over $15 billion under management. Before joining Advent, she had a variety of senior roles in private equity including positions at CP Eaton, a placement firm, where she was responsible for due diligence and origination of fund mandates and at Credit Suisse and Colorado PERA, where she invested in funds. Beverly began her career in corporate business development at ITOCHU, one of Japan's largest trading conglomerates.
Fred is a Principal at Intervale Capital, an energy-focused buyout firm with offices in Cambridge and Houston. Fred joined Intervale at its inception in 2006, where his responsibilities include deal sourcing, execution, and management, as well as a recently completed stint focused on the firm's fundraising activities. Prior to helping launch Intervale Capital, he served as a Principal at Capital Resource Partners, as a General Partner at North Atlantic Capital, and as an Associate at Watermill Ventures. Fred began his career at Morgan Stanley & Co.
This event is by invitation only for senior level private equity and corporate development executives.
