Cautionary tales from the trenches

We’re looking for short talks that might help prevent other practitioners from embarrassment, wasting time, getting in political trouble, misusing a method, making a mistake during a customer visit, losing credibility with product groups, or other minor or major faux pas, blunders, or mistakes. What lessons have you learned in your work that might help others avoid problems?
For those who haven’t been to a 10-minute talk session Here are the key guidelines:
1. Talks are timed and people have exactly 10 minutes.
2. No more than 6 slides are allowed and participants can just tell a good story without slides.
3. All slides are due 2 days before the session so the moderator can put them all on one machine. The presentations will all go on a PC and must be in PowerPoint or PDF format.
4. A one-page summary of your talk is requested and will be distributed during the meeting (we will make copies).
5. 5 minutes are allotted for questions at the end of teach talk and speakers are invited to talk with people further at the end of the presentations.
6. Talks should be focused narrowly; the best talks are ones that have concrete suggestions or lessons learned that the audience can take away.
We have slots for 6 speakers. If you are interested in presenting, please send a proposal that includes:
- Your name, email, and phone number
- A title for the presentation
- A 100-200 word description
- The key lessons that you think people should take away from your presentation (a short bulleted list if fine).
