from MIT Enterprise Forum - Cambridge
This event has passed.
Monday, October 27, 2008, 6:30pm - 9:00pm

Networking has been a core tactic for building and marketing businesses long before the internet came of age and certainly even more so with the explosion of services such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Ning. Web technology and the mass appeal of making connections online makes social networking an attractive channel for businesses that want to extend their word of mouth reach, credibility and influence. And behind the firewall, social networks that connect employees professionally and personally present a whole different value proposition.

While there’s plenty of buzz about social networks (socnets), most companies aren’t quite “wired” for engaging social communities just yet. And where do discussion groups, mailing lists, and online blogs fit in the business social network pyramid? Amidst all the shiny new objects of Web 2.0 web applications, it’s important to understand which networks are influential and relevant; which features are important, which don't get used.

Come and help us kick off our social network mini-series, join us for a an evening of lively discussion about business social networks and the increasingly important role they are playing in our Web connected lives.

Speakers:
Dave Carter, CTO & Founder, Awareness
